Faucet InstructionsFor the Do-It-Yourselfer

My faucet connection is to large to screw onto the shut-off valve, how do I connect it?

Some of the new faucets on the market today come with their own supply lines. The problem is that the female 1/2 inch iron pipe connections will not fit the average 3/8 inch compression shut-off valves. One way to adapt these fittings is to use a 1/2 inch FIP (female iron pipe) by 3/8 inch female compression braided supply line; they come in multiple lengths.

Connect the 1/2 faucet supply end to the 1/2 inch braided supply line with a 1/2 inch brass allthread pipe nipple, and then the 3/8 inch compression fitting to the shut-off valve or stop. You do not need to use plumber's Teflon pipe tape unless there is a leak.
