The handles of the Glacier Bay Leon bath faucet simply pull off. Gently rock the handle back and forth while pulling it in an upward direction. The handles are held on the faucet’ stems by a plastic adaptor.

How to Replace the Ceramic Disc Cartridges in a Glacier Bay Leon Two Handle Solid Brass Bathroom Lavatory Faucet Series 800 Models 164-893P, 164-893, 592-341 and USCR216RMH

1.      Turn the water supply off at the small stop valves under the sink, or the main water supply to the house.

2.      Open the faucet to relieve the water pressure before you disassemble the faucet.

3.      Pull the handles off the cartridge stem adapters.

4.      Remove the handle adaptor by unscrewing its retaining screw.

5.      Unscrew the brass ceramic disc faucet cartridge with an adjustable crescent wrench; turn the valves counterclockwise to remove them.

6.      Wipe the inside of the cartridge barrel clean with a dry cloth.

7.      Apply a thin layer of plumber’s silicone lubricant to the outside of the new Glacier Bay Leon ceramic disc cartridge, O-ring and mounting threads. This will protect the cartridge from corrosion and mineral deposits.

8.      Screw the new cartridges into the faucet by hand, and then secure firmly with your wrench.

9.      Set the handle adaptor on the new stems and secure them with the adaptor retaining screw.

10.  Rotate the stem adapter on the left handle clockwise to close the valve, and then align the handle and press it into place.

11.  Rotate the stem of the right handle counterclockwise to close the faucet, and then align and press the handle onto the adaptor.

12.  Remove the aerator for the end of the faucet; this will keep it from clogging with debris when you turn the water back on.

13.  Slowly turn the main water supply or shut-off valves back on. If you turn it on too fast, you can damage your plumbing.

14.  Open the hot side of the faucet and let the water run for a few seconds and the shut it off; the water may splash out of the sink without the aerator attached.

15.  Open the right or cold side of the faucet on and run the water for a few seconds, and then turn it off; this helps clear out any unwanted trash and debris from the faucet and supply lines.

16.  Replace the aerator and turn the faucet on and off several times.

17.  Look all around the faucet for any signs of a leak.
