Faucet InstructionsFor the Do-It-Yourselfer

Can I use my Glacier Bay Builders Tub Shower Faucet as a Shower only or Tub only Faucet?

Yes, you can. Wrap the threads of the faucet body outlet you are not going to use with plumber’s PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) Teflon thread tape 5 or 6 times in a clockwise direction. Start the tape by holding the end of the tape against the threads with one hand; begin wrapping it with your other hand in a clockwise direction. Hold tension on Glacier Bay Faucet Instructionsthe thread tape as you pull it around the threads to seal the tape. Screw on the cap plug provided with your new Glacier Bay Builders Series tub and shower faucet by hand, and then tighten the cap with an adjustable wrench or pliers. If you do not have the Glacier Bay factory cap, you can use a standard ½-inch iron-pipe thread brass cap from any hardware store or home center; do not use black steel or galvanized pipe caps or plugs when installing water bearing plumbing fixtures, they will rust and leak over time. Inspect the cap seal after the faucets installation for leaks. Check all the faucet’s piping connections again after 90 days of typical use. Tip-the faucet body still needs installed in the correct position with the shower outlet pointing up. Warning-Do not use pipe dope or Teflon paste on the fixture’s threads when installing a Tub or Shower faucet; it can clog the small waterways inside the pressure balancing ceramic disc cartridge and ruin it.
